RFK Stadium, Wash DC, June 10, 1973. D4t06 (GDTRFB): There's a reel flip/splice @ 6:42 that is a big shame. Anyone heard the magical crescendo segue that's missing? You'll enjoy these precious minutes of energetic jamming. Just before the reel change that produces this bone-crushing loss of music, Dicky Betts had been playin' Garcia riffs in his mediocre solo. Then Garcia comes in strong with his solo. A few seconds later, we have the reel change. What's missing is the best crescendo of the one-hour-plus jam with the Allmans... perhaps the best crescendo of this most famous weekend.

I was there. I taped this show on my Sony 110 cassette machine. I still have the master cassette. Of course, the damn thing is beyond mechanically shot. The housing is shot. I have an emptied surrogate cassette housing. Just spent 2 hours trying to do the transfer of the tape reels into the new housing. It's been many years since I last did this procedure. My tape is so old, wrinkled, stretched that it isn't packing onto the reels very well. I just abandoned my effort. I do have a cassette splicing jig. It only needs to play once for digitizing capture, just about 2 or 3 minutes of tape playback is all we need. Sound Forge will do the trick from there. I can do that too -- still have my Nakamichi 550 cassette deck. I've dusted it off, cleaned up the transport, heads, capstan, pinch roller. It plays tapes nicely.

Question: a) Anyone know where there's another AUD tape of 73-06-10? or, b) Anyone want to help me out with my tape? I've been thinking about this for one year. Finally tried today. Hit me up, or link me to the AUD tape source please. Many thanks.

thanks Surfah. Your great link came up on here yesterday. You bet! 1st thing I did yesterday was to check. Even though your source can lead you to the SHN for GDTRFB on 73-06-10, it's another copy of the same reel-change-loss issue.

I saw lots of tapers there that weekend. There should be several AUDs for this show somewhere.

Anybody?
